Thirty degrees in the shade create a powerful mood for cold food and drinks. Warm oatmeal is therefore unthinkable for many to start the day in the morning. However, as recognized in TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) and Ayurveda thousands of years ago, hot breakfast also brings significant benefits in summer.
You can find out why a hot breakfast is also recommended in the hot months here:
The benefits of hot breakfast
Even in summer, having a hot breakfast has some advantages. For example, it protects your digestion , as the meal is already at an operating temperature, so to speak. Your body does not need to expend any extra energy to heat your food for digestion.
But not only that, the nutrients can also be absorbed better .
In addition, a hot breakfast is said to strengthen the immune system . Although we are less prone to colds in the summer than in the cold seasons, the additional immune strength can certainly not hurt during the holiday season.
In addition to the health benefits, hot breakfast also fills you up for longer , without creating too much of a feeling of fullness. Provided you opt for a light, hot breakfast like porridge.
Hot breakfast according to Ayurveda and TCM
Hot breakfast is also highly valued in Indian natural medicine Ayurveda and TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) .

Thousands of years ago, it was already known that food is more digestible if we eat it warm. Both teachings speak of increased well-being when we rely on cooked breakfast .
According to the Ayurvedic diet , the best way to support your digestive fire (Agni) is for your food to be warm. Only when your Agni is strong can your food be fully digested and the nutrients optimally absorbed . This means that even in summer, a well-functioning digestive fire gives you the energy you need to truly enjoy the warm days.
Since, according to Ayurveda, sluggish digestion can also lead to sleep problems , it is particularly important to have a warm breakfast in summer. Because of the heat, we tend to sleep worse.
The TCM also states that warm food strengthens digestion and the immune system . A good interaction between the stomach and the spleen is only possible if your body is not busy bringing the supplied food to operating temperature. This, in turn, builds up the life energy, also called Qi. If the Qi cannot flow freely, diseases can arise.
In addition, according to TCM, hot breakfast helps against fatigue and listlessness.
