Crunchy muesli for breakfast - try it now
What exactly is granola?
In the 19th century, an American doctor had wholegrain cereal flakes baked to be able to serve his patients a healthy and crunchy breakfast. He later sold it as granola.
Today, we eat the healthy crunchy muesli, similar to the classic muesli, together with milk or milk alternatives, usually for breakfast. You can take it with you as a snack for in between meals, for sports or to school/university/work without milk. Or try it as a topping on yoghurt, porridge, shakes and other desserts.
The granola is just the same as it used to be, popular because of its crunchy consistency. In its basic form, it consists of wholegrain oat flakes baked with sugar, maple syrup or agave syrup. This results in small crunchy balls, which are now available to buy from Verival with other ingredients such as chocolate, dried fruit or nuts and seeds.
Its special feature is its crunchy texture, which has a slight biscuit flavor. Our top 1 tip for perfect granola is therefore: store your granola in an airtight glass jar. Not only will it stay crunchy for longer, but it won't absorb any foreign flavors either.
Delicious basic recipe for granola
Crunchy granola to make yourself takes no time at all. The Verival online shop offers you all the ingredients you need in organic quality. First, preheat your oven to 180 degrees Celsius.
Tip number 2 for perfect granola: Use the time to toast the wholegrain oats briefly in a non-stick pan without oil. Then put the toasted oats in a container and mix with the sweetener of your choice. You can use cane sugar, honey, coconut blossom sugar, but also maple syrup or agave syrup.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper, sprinkle with the oat mixture, and pop it in the oven. After 10 minutes, remove the baking sheet from the oven, shake it, and bake for another 5 minutes.
After about 15 minutes in the oven, you will have delicious granola. Let it cool briefly and then put it in an airtight jar.
Think about what other healthy ingredients you would like in your granola.

Quickly made granola – Verival Crunchy
The subtle difference between classic granola and crunchy lies in the preparation. Granola is baked without oil. Verival's delicious crunchy, on the other hand, is baked with sunflower oil. However, palm oil is not used at all. In addition, all the ingredients are certified organic.
Crunchy muesli is a quick and tasty healthy snack or a great healthy breakfast when you're in a hurry. You mix the crunchy muesli with cold or warm milk or with yoghurt and you're ready to enjoy it.
As a third tip, we recommend trying the crunchy granola without any liquid. For a crunchy change, put some healthy granola in your lunch box and nibble on it during your break or after exercise. This contributes to a healthy diet and tastes great. At Verival, you can find ready-made crunchy muesli with berries, honey, oats, spelt or chocolate and in the flavors orange-acerola, blueberry-apple. If you can't decide, choose the fruit crunchy mix, which contains a little bit of everything.
Granola without sugar – is that possible?
More and more people want to avoid added sugars and are reaching for sugar-free alternatives. However, they are in no way inferior to the sweet originals. You can also make crunchy muesli without sugar. Our 4th tip for perfect sugar-free granola is coconut oil.
Take some coconut oil and let it melt over a low heat. Now mix all the ingredients with the coconut oil, spread the mixture on a baking tray lined with baking paper and bake in the oven for a total of 15 minutes. The coconut oil ensures that the granola turns out beautifully crispy. If you still don't want to go without a sweet taste, freeze-dried fruits are a natural and subtle sweetener. To make your granola crunchier, you can mix in nuts and seeds.
Healthy toppings for your granola
Crunchy muesli is classically prepared with milk or another dairy product. You can also refine it with other toppings as you please. Fresh fruits such as berries, grapes, finely chopped apples, apricots and peaches are particularly popular. During the cool season, you can use freeze-dried fruits. Since these fruits have a long shelf life, you don't have to worry about seasonality. Tip #5: Why not try making delicious granola bars or small cookies?
You can add chia seeds, nuts, sunflower seeds or sesame seeds to your baked oatmeal. They all provide you with valuable vitamins and minerals. Almonds provide you with vitamin E and ensure beautiful skin and long eyelashes. Pumpkin seeds contain a lot of zinc and strengthen your immune system. Choose chia seeds for an extra portion of protein. There are no limits to your imagination. All ingredients are available in certified organic quality in the online shop of Verival der Biomanufaktur. Of course, all the ingredients are also available in vegan and gluten-free.
How to store your homemade granola properly
It is important to let your granola dry properly after baking. Dry foods such as herbs, flour, pasta, legumes or muesli and granola are usually stored in kitchen cupboards or larder units.
Your granola should be stored in an airtight container such as glass. As a rule, homemade granola will keep for at least two weeks. You can also transfer your Verival granola packs into an airtight container. Simply write the best-before date on it and enjoy fresh granola every day.
